comp help plz

k iv just fin building my comp and i think all the wires are ok. but the problem is when i turn it on it starts up but nuffing appears on the moniter am i ment to put the motherboard cd into the comp to config it or is somthing ment to come up and then i put the cd in.

could be a few diff things
Is the ram seated properley?
are u getting any beep codes?
u should see something on the monitor without loading any drivers off the cd
and yeah what anf said give us ur specs

are you using an onboard video card or an extra one? Can you hear the hard drive start spinning when you turn it on? When you put the ram in, did it click into place?

Could be anything, are all the fans spinning? re-check all the wires are in correctly and in the right places if still no luck I'd strip it down to barebones.

Is the 12v motherboard cable connected?

ok so the list of things you need to check:

1:first is it an onboard video card or does it plug into your motherboard

2: does your monitor work and is it plugged in correctly

3:does your mother board have an error code display? (usually a 2 digit led display) that displays a 2 digit error code. if so are there any error codes coming up

4: power supply is working, are you geting lights or any indication the machine is getting power

5:how nothing is nothing do you see anything at all on the screen? is it blank or does it say no video input

6: remove everything from your machine except ram, processor, power supply and video card now does it boot

If by now its still not working you probably have 1 of 2 problems

either the board is faulty or your video card is faulty

or

your board has some weird startup thing you need to do like set jumpers or dip switches to a none default setting.

first id read the install instructions for the mobo. if still no go then id test the video card by installing it in another machine to see if it works.


if your machine still doesnt work from here it looks like your mobo is faulty or not compatible with the video card your using.

k basically when i start it does make beeping sound 3 times and the lights on the comp work. when i turn the screen on it does turn on (cause it is lit up abit so it's a very light black kinda, that normally happens). and yes the fans works and i hear the drive spin iv even open it by pressing the button to insert a disc.

now here is the thing my mother board ram slot can only hold a 1gb ram (so it says on the manual but in the net it says 2gb...bit confused) now iv got a 2gb ram in the ram slot that is only ment to hold 1 gb could that be the problem?

is it the correct ram for your board?

I assume because it the right type of ram becuase it fuits in the slot

but is it the correct speed for your mother board?

how many ram slots do you have and how many chips?

i have 2 ram slots and the i only have 1 ram chip that is 2gb and each ram slot can only handle 1 gb
