If you have it from a very young age you don't know any better ...

When you're in a manic or hypomanic state you cant even remember how you felt while you were depressed and while you're depressed you cant really do anything ... and most of the time you feel completely normal inbetween the swings.

True, it's different for everyone.

Perhaps I worded it badly, but I guess what I was getting at was that there are no there are no maybes about mental illnesses.
The topic is being talked about more openly now than in the past, which is a great thing, but it's also meant that is is open to being flitted around. I think there is tendency to use the term too loosely.

While at the time I may not have known exactly what was wrong, I definately knew that my pattern of behaviour was far from rational and that it was adversely affecting those around me.

Well it appears a few of you are taking serotonergic medications [antidepressants]. I'd talk to a doctor before popping your next pill or racking up again. Amphetamines and the such act like SSRI's, and using a combination of serotonergic medications [even weeks apart, as drugs like fluoxatine have an enormous half life] may induce a potentially life threatening condition called serotonin syndrome.

google it.

Like i said, I'm pretty highly strung. The most common phrase I hear from people is "chill out", which I have a lot of difficulty in doing. So, hopefully Zoloft will help that.

And LOL at you, Tim!
hmmm maybe i need that haha im going to anger managment to deal with my highly strungness haha

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I'm no longer stupid enough to take a pill whilst on an SSRI. I tried it once, ages ago, and it failed. It won't work, and if it does anything at all, it will cause pain and trauma and damage.

And how do things like MDMA and amphetamines act like SSRI's? MDMA causes a flood of serotonin to the brain, amphetamines cause a rush of dopamine (there's more to it than that, but in essence that is what happens), and SSRI's limit serotonin reuptake to the presynaptic cell thing, which increases the level of serotonin to bind to the postsynaptic receptor. So, they stop your brain from getting rid of serotonin, while MDMA just floods your brain with it

Nostalgia is reflecting upon the past or longing for it, not looking to the future heh.
